AKT MAGAZINE is an independent magazine founded by Jessy Van Durme & Piet-Albert Goethals. At Akt, we search for greatness in a small corner, abstraction in the mass, with a keen eye for timeless aesthetics and a nod to Belgium’s creative landscape of architecture, design, fashion, food and beyond.

It began with the stacks of magazines and books that occupy their home. Nothing is as mindful or soothing to this duo than sitting down to enjoy the tactility of a pile of papers - whether that’s in the form of a magazine or a book. For years Piet and Jessy had been dreaming of starting their own magazine but if they ever did it, it had to be just right. Which is why they only publish one issue every 6 months, quality over quantity. In the first issue of AKT Piet and Jessy feature some (old) friends, have a closer look at longterm fascinations and document exciting encounters. Their subjects span a lot of fields, from fashion to food, over design to architecture, music, art and more.
AKT doesn’t believe in categorizing, they believe a creative mind is free and unrestricted and they’re especially fascinated by artists with a multidisciplinary approach. These are some of the names you’ll find inside: artist Berlinde De Bruyckere, choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, chef Maarten Van Essche and magnetic band SX.
